Bill Harvey Fly Casting Class

March 7-8, 2009

Corpus Christi, TX

Team Ocean Kayak’s Jeff Herman organized another successful fly fishing instructional class held with instructor Bill Harvey.  Bill, a long time employee of Texas Parks and Wildlife, is an excellent instructor and an active member of the kayaking community, and has been instrumental in establishing many of the kayak paddle trails along the Texas coast.

From Jeff’s report of the weekend

As usual the Wizard worked his magic and everyone improved their casts.  Also, as usual, it is just a great opportunity to meet some great folks and have some fun while working to perfect the im-perfectable.

Truly a weekend I look forward to every year... good stuff all around. Funny aside...

I went fishing Saturday morning for a few hours before class. I was out on a flat working a drift, and the silence and calm of the morning was Field and Stream perfect. Just the wind and the water. The slow "shhiiiinnnngg" of a cast. The clack, clack, clack of a spook walking the dog. Funny though, all the sudden I hear this familiar (unmistakable) yack and drawl of Dean Thomas drifting in the wind. LOL. From all the way across the flat that voice carries like a first-day-on-the-job mailman. From Field and Stream perfect, to fishing with narration provided by Larry the Cable Guy's first cousin.  It was old school TKF perfect, and made me grin... Jeff
